Jo is.. Dubiously male? sort of just.. a thing..? I think we just lean towards masc as a default. consider him "male but in the way youd see him on the street and just say "aw look at him" and justify calling it a "him" 'cause hes blue.
Genuinely, though, hes just a thing. only picky about descriptors since he isnt too worried about how people percieve him in terms of 'gender' but in terms of what he
is. appreciates (for lack of a better term) 'being spoken down to'/otherwise spoken to the way you would with any non human creature, although it absolutely does not mean he isnt capable of communicating/thinking as one.
